STATEMENT UPDATE IN TAWI-TAWI HIGH TIDE EVENT
April 06, 2024

On April 5, 2024 at exactly 7:41pm we measured a very high tide with 24 meters depth of water, the TTMA office immediately issued a wave advisory in warning tidal waves sea-level. The following information of the tide event with the height is 7.9ft and water depth is exactly 20-24 meters high, after a few moments another high tide event happened ranging to 7.0ft and 21 meters at 8:04pm. The Tide Alert System (TAS) data receiver observe its condition followed by the high tide event last month, 16 March ranging to 7.9ft also with a water depth of 25 meters at 2:46pm, the location of the tide is in Malaysia and Philippines. We monitor its condition from the tide chart scheduled and scheme data to know the particular area and its effect.

The people in the coastal areas of Sitangkai in Tawi-Tawi are still Advise to move farther away in shore as per as the high tides experience. This is for safety purposes only for the people that lives near the sea of Tawi-Tawi.

All harbors owners and management are still advise to stick and keep their boats or tie it in the side of the beach.

For the safety of everybody, swimming and diving in the sea of far land are not allowed. Please stay in the sea-shore instead.

The PHITIDES will closely manage and monitor the tide and sea condition to inform and update all the concerned stakeholders.

NO EVACUATION ACTION IS RECOMMENDED TO THIS HIGH TIDE EVENT.
