STATEMENT UPDATE OF GUIMARAS HIGH TIDE EVENT
May 20, 2024

The tide data system monitoring recorded a two (2) major high tide earlier this morning, 20 May 2024. The high tide and low tide monitoring station recorded and reported the occurrence of the two (2) tides at exactly around 7:59am and 8:05am. The level of height is ranging up from 6.0ft (14 meters) to 6.1ft (15 meters) and with its high water depth. Up to 30+ areas are affected by this tide event. However, there are no casualties reported.

Station said, no tidal flooding happened. However, a strong tidal wave has been reported by the monitoring station with a height level of 2.5ft with its water depth of 10 meters and level of MINOR onshore of Northern Visayas, Guimaras, Philippines. The wave occurrence was measured at 8:15am. So far, no casualties have been reported.

People near the sea are not prohibited to do local action in the sea. Fishing and swimming are still allowed.

For the information of all, the PHITIDES will closely manage and monitor the sea condition to inform and update all concerned stakeholders.

NO EVACUATION ACTION IS RECOMMENDED TO THIS HIGH TIDE EVENT.
